    Client Options

    If you have not looked at Client Account Options on your client account home page, you should. There are many time-saving and helpful features there that can increase your productivity.

    • Email Delivery - You can have messages sent to your mailbox, or select e-mail summaries to allow you to quickly browse for specific items in RFQs.

    • Automatically include notes in your bids - For sites that support notes in bids, Simplix-W allows you to specify text that is automatically included each time you bid.

    • Award notices customization - This new option on the Simplix client options page will allow you to turn off receipt of 836 Contract Award Notices. Currently, for every RFQ you have profiled, the notice of award is automatically sent to you. Setting this option will allow you to stop receiving contract award notices.

      Note that your bids will still be flagged when an award is made and the award will be linked to your bid and to the RFQ. This allows you to review award information for only the items on which you have bid.

    • Keyword highlighting - When keyword highlighting is enabled, the items within a message that match your keywords are displayed in green.

    The Client Account Options link is located near the end of your client home page, in the FUNCTIONS: section.

    Profiling Options

    If you are not using profiling you are not getting the most you can out of the Simplix system. Details are in the client walk through.

    GATEC on the increase at the Department of Energy

    Four more sites are being added. Savannah River, Chicago, Idaho and Oakland are joining Head Quarters and Chicago with GATEC capability.

    News from WALWEB

    The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has completed their first production RFQ on line. They will have procurements up to $5 million.

    Waltrip and Associates have completed a private RFQ and award using the WALWEB hub. A Simplix vendor bid and won the award.

    Reminder about Veterans Affairs

    Remember to send your Purchase Order Acknowledgements to the VA. There are a couple of fields to fill in and a button to click.

    Advances in Electronic Invoicing

    Simplix-W has made several improvements in electronic invoicing. These include:

    • New features for shipping cost
    • Changing price for the item
    • Changing quantity

    Contractor Registration Notes

  • The single letter code in the TPIN must be in uppercase to updated CCR appropriately. For example:

      1998H123456       (correct TPIN)
      1998h123456       (incorrect TPIN)

  • CCR has also removed vendors who have not updated their registrations in the last year. If you receive an 824 back that has the following note:

    	No registration exists; cannot submit change, renew or cancel.
    

    remove your TPIN entry and submit registration again.

    New Commercial Sites

    More commercial sites are being added. While these sites do not send out public Request for Quotes, they are important to our customers with standing contracts. Currently included are Sears, Dick's Sporting Goods, Cessna, Allied Signal, and Boeing MESA. For more information, send e-mail to www-techsup@simplix.com stating which of these companies you wish to connect with.

    The Armed Forces Exchanges are supported by Simplix

    Simplix now supports EDI for companies who have contracts to supply the PX community. NEXES (Navy) and AAFES (Army and Air Force) are both supported.

    DSCR and DGSC on part and cage requirements

    When bidding to the EBBs, the DSCR and DSCC pages require a manufacturer and part number. If they are not included, the bid will be rejected with an error returned of

            invalid manufacturer cage or invalid part number
    

    so remember to include those on the YPG and YPC bids.

    Passwords at DLA

    Simplix automatically updates passwords for DSCC. If you change your password at the EBB directly it may cause rejection of your bids. The best way to do this is to have the EBB clear your password and then resubmit your Simplix registration.

    Why so many registrations?

    Why do we have so many registrations if we have CCR?

    Currently, no integration exists between CCR and older procurement systems. To address this problem, Simplix functions as a true central registration facility. When a Simplix client updates their registration information, updates are sent not only CCR, but to Defense Supply Center Richmond, Defense Supply Center Columbus, Defense Industrial Supply Center, GATEC, WALWEB, and Veteran's Affairs.

    Profiling Tips and Tricks

    Keywords that you may want to add to your profile:

    • Your CAGE code
    • Your competitors' CAGE codes
    • Your company name
    • Your competitors' company names

    GSA -- Catalogs and Email submission of Electronic Catalogs

    Simplix has recently updated the listing of catalogs for GSA advantage. If you have a schedule and have received a start up kit from GSA and would like to use Simplix instead of SIP and do not have a link on your home page drop us a line and we will add it.

    Remember: you have to have a Federal Supply Schedule and have received a startup kit to use this capability.

    We do not put this link out by default because it is irrelevant to clients who do not have federal supply schedules.

    There is also an email format that you can use to send in your catalog.

    Unit of Measure on DLA quotes.

    In order to be compliant with the EDI standards Simplix is translating the DOD unit of measure to the X12/EDI unit of measure. Both units will now appear in the EDI message.

    Q quotes issues Multiple line items are now being properly supported. They allow for the multiple line quotes.

    Automatic Retransmission Simplix automatically retransmits messages every 12 hours to ensure receipt in a timely manner by the end user.

    Email Redundancy

    Simplix was the first VAN to have automatic redundancy with all three ECPNs. Now, even if the primary and secondary ECPNs are non-functional, your bids will still be received by the Electronic Commerce Infrastructure and will be logged in as being received.

    Is your ISP hanging up on you after a few minutes of inactivity?

    Set Mail check to 3 or 4 minutes to avoid idle out by your ISP.

    Also, you can email any SIMPLIX message to yourself or anyone else for that matter using Netscape. Just click on the file option and choose Send Page. This allows you to keep local copies of specific messages even if you do not want to do email delivery.

    Cookies should be enabled. This will allow you to only log in once per session. If your IP address changes (e.g. if you use some other computer in your office), then you may have to login again.

    Important Information

    Regarding the fax from Robert Busche at Defense Supply Center Columbus, Mr. Robert Busche states:

      "There have been no problems with Simplix. "

    This has not been the case with other VANs and services. A number of VANs and bid services have been providing invalid and inaccurate information regarding the Electronic Bulletin Board X, T, and Q quotes from DLA. This information is adversely effecting many vendors.

    Vendors using services other than Simplix are having their Automated Best Value Model Vendor ratings lowered because of invalid information.

    820 Remittance Advice

    Simplix pulls the information directly from the EBB. By not adding information with out-of-date history information and invalid NSN descriptions, Simplix helps ensure your company's rating and reputation with the federal government remains intact.

    Simplix has just learned that Remittance Advice (820 Documents) should be coming on line soon for SAMMS. This should be in place between November 1998 and March of 1999. These documents will be available to Simplix clients within 24 hours of SAMMS making them available to us.
